The Hot Air Balloon in Vang Vieng one of my peak moments on my worldtrip so far! I avoided the tubing yesterday because we had to wake up at 5.45 and had a pickup from our hotel in Vang Vieng at 6.00.
We saw the sunrise in the Hot Air Balloon. What a view. I thought I was dreaming! What a view! The sun was coming from behind the mountains and was fully orange.
Today we went rockclimbing in Vang Vieng. We did a half day tour. I think when your not an experienced climber half a day is enough. Because your arms getting weaker after several climbs without the right technic.
We did 7 climbs in a cave next to the river. In the video you’ll find a short compilation of our climbs. The difficulty of the climbs were 6, 5a, 5b, 5c and 6c+ don’t ask me what it means but maybe you’ll look for it on the internet š
Tubing in Vang Vieng Laos it is crazy! You can rent a tube for 55.000 kip (5.5 euro or $6.5) The deposit for the tube is 65.000 kip. Out of time, after 18.00 is 20.000 kip.
We started at 11.00 at the first bar. I had nr 23 on my hand. (nu number = no tube) And later I saw numbers over 200 that means at least 200 people are tubing that day. The first bar is a drinking game bar. Lots of drinking games with al the people who are there. The most of the time everybody start tubing from the first bar at 13.30.
Today we did a ratrace my tree kiwi friends took the bus to Luang Prabang and I and two German girls hitchhiked.
Who can order the beer as first in Luang Prabang? At 11.30 we were on the maineoad and tried to get a car. Not a lot of traffic but after 45 min. we got one! A nice fast pick-up to Pakmong. Lot more traffic over there so try to get a other ride. We tried 1 hour when a minivan passed us, with the screaming kiwi’s inside! We tried another hour before we decide to take the local bus. We saw beautiful views and even elephants. Many holes in the road so a bumpy ride and a lot slower but les expensive and a nice experiance richer!
There are different busses from Luang Prabang to Vien Vieng. The price range is between 110.000 and 180.000 ($13.5 / $22)
We took the bus at 17.00 from the north busstation in Luang Prabang it was a normal seats bus and the ride seposed to be 6 hours. The road is quite bumpy and the ride took us 9 hours. When you’ve the choice go for the seats on the right probably you can see the sunset over the mountains. When it is dark the view on the stars is amazing, because there are almost no lights you can see them very well! We arrived at 1.45 in Vien Vieng.
When you’re in Luang Prabang you can arrange your own daytrip and visit the Kuang Si Falls in Luang Prabang and the Pak Ou Caves. We arranged a tuk tuk taxi for 40.000 (40 euro $50) and shared the tuk tuk with eight persons. In Total we drove like 100 km so it is definitly worth it. You can also do it by bike or motorbike (12.000 a day) when you’ve more time / days.
This morning we took the slowboat from Muang Khua to Muang Ngoy Neua. Before I picked up my breakfast at the local market. Some mandarines and bananas. Always a good start of the day. I saw on the local market also some strange other stuff, one of the pictures below shows it. I think it is a bad or something.
