Bus from Vientiane to Thakhek

Today I was in the local bus from Vientiane to Thakhek. The tuk tuk picked me up at 9.00 the bus suposed to leave at 10.00 but was full. Lot of packages. We I had the bus at 10.30.

First hitchhike in Laos

Today we did a ratrace my tree kiwi friends took the bus to Luang Prabang and I and two German girls hitchhiked.
Who can order the beer as first in Luang Prabang? At 11.30 we were on the maineoad and tried to get a car. Not a lot of traffic but after 45 min. we got one! A nice fast pick-up to Pakmong. Lot more traffic over there so try to get a other ride. We tried 1 hour when a minivan passed us, with the screaming kiwi’s inside! We tried another hour before we decide to take the local bus. We saw beautiful views and even elephants. Many holes in the road so a bumpy ride and a lot slower but les expensive and a nice experiance richer!

Bus from Sapa Vietnam to Laos

When you are in Sapa and want to get to Loas you can book a ticket at different shops. We booked ours in the Hao Lan hotel. (also named Diamond Hotel / barbershop, hairsalon) They can offer you a busticket between for $22. We also visited other places and asked around but this was the most cheap bus we could get to Loas from Sapa.

Bus Hanoi to Sapa in Vietnam

When you are in Hanoi and want to get the bus to Sapa just walk into a travelshop or ask your hostel or hotel. They can offer you a busticket between $10 and $15. I took the sleepingbus at night. This nightbus will pick you up in Hanoi at 21.00 in the evening and you’ll arrive in Sapa at 6.30. (9.5 hour busride) The bus is nice and you have your own bed. Big luggage will be in the luggage space in the bus.

Bus from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh

I stayed at the Mad Monkey Hostel in Phnom Penh and booked my ticket over there. There where 3 options to of busses. Local bus ($13), an touringcar($18) and a minivan($15). I took the touringcar with wifi and comfortable seats. It was leaving at 7 o’clock in the morning. (little bit hard after a good beerpong play in the Mad Monkey bar)

Siem Reap to Sihanouksville and Boat to Koh Rong

Siem Reap is a nice place to go, from there you can easy take busses to other places like Bangkok Phnom Pehn, Sihanoukville and Kompot.

I took the nightbus (depart at 19.00) from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville. It is an 12 hours drive on bumpy roads and the beds are not that big. But I heard a tip. Just eat a small happy pizza before you go and you’ll sleep like a baby.

When you’re arrived in Sihanoukville there you have to go to Serendipity street. Thats the place where the boats depart to Koh Rong. When you get out of the bus there will be tuktuks ($4) motor taxi’s ($2) or guys who want to sell you a boat tickets and bring you for free to the boat. (you will arrive at 7.00) the first boat departs at 8.00.
