Last three weeks I was training Muay Thai at Santai Muay Thai Gym in Chiang Mai. Training in an authentic Gym is an amazing experience but also exhausting. After the 3 weeks I treated myself to two nice luxury hostels with a private room. First I slept two nights at Oxotel hostel close to the famous Chiang Mai Saturday Night Market and moved after to Trace Hotelistro because they serve amazing Acai Bowl and Cocktails in a unique location.
Is you’re looking for a hostel in Kuala Lumpur than a nice option to stay is the Sunshine Bedz Hostel for 35 RM a night. The vibe in the hostel is good so it is easy to meet people and the staff is nice and helpfull. I don’t want to forget the taxi service to the airport! (80 RM day -100RM evening ride) What a nice and friendly guy is that. When you share a cab with three it is cheaper than the KLIA Express (35RM per person) and way easier because they pick you up and drop you off. Sunshine Beds Hostel also provides different things for their guests like pub-crawls.
One of the most beautiful places on my Asia tour was prevention Island. I stayed at the small island at Long Beach. The white sand and the blue water maked it like a dream. Even better was that you can snorkle from the beach and see such a great sealife! I saw sharks, Nemo’s, Parrotfish and lots of other colorful fish I don’t know. The coral was also really beautifull. The anomons and the big breathing water plants where awesome. I rented everyday a mask and snorkle for 5 RM. ($1.25)
Langkawi is a island at the west coast of Malaysia and has a taxfree policy. A normal beer in Penang costs around 5 RM ($1.25) and on Langkawi you can get it for 2 RM. ($0.65)
My stay at Penang was great. I love streetfood and Georgetown in Penang has a lot of streetfood. During my stay in Kuala Lumpur someone recommended the hostel “The house of Journey” in Georgetown.
My stay at the Mad Monkey hostel in Phnom Penh was great. The real food is good the staff is nice en helpfull. The dorms rooms are clean and the bunkbeds are from steal an big! The matrasses are tick.
The reception of the Mad Monkey hostel is accross the street but you’ll find it. They offer tours and busrides to almost everywhere. Ask Dara, the Cambodia guy who can speak real good English. Otherwise they arrange a private taxi so you can go. The loundry service is a little expensive so better wash your clothes somewhere elke when you want to save money ($2 a kilo)
My stay at the Footprints hostel in Sihanoukville was awesome. You can stay there from $5 a night. The beds are good and the accomodation clean. You’ve several options in the Footprints hostel. You’ve private rooms, normal dorms ánd dorms just next to the sea. When you want to sleep in the “open air” the last option will be great. (all the beds in the Footprints hostel have mosquito nets) They have a lot of beds in a building above the bar without walls. So you can see and hear the sea when you’re in your bed.
