In stage nine we rode from Ba Don to Yen Cat.
This morning we got up at 7.00 and were on the motorbike at 7.30. It was little foggy and after a half a hour it started raining. We get soaked but. Was this the nicest day of the adventure? No, but buying a motorbike in Vietnam was a great thing to do and this is part of it. We made it from Ho Chi Minh all the way up to Hanoi. I’m glad I did it!
In stage nine we rode from Ba Don to Yen Cat.
This morning we got up at 6.30 and were on the motorbike at 6.45. The first few hours we rode in the fog. The views were magical. The fog and the mountains are a good combination. For the first time in vietnam we had to wait for a train. For breakfast we had a beef noodlesoup. When you do your roadtrip make a list of things you want to eat and translate that. Or just go and see what the can offer you. They don’t speak English in the little villages. After breakfast the we saw the sun and we got into the mountains with amazing views.
In stage nine we rode from Dong Ha to Ba Don.
This ride from Dong Ha to Ba Don took us 10 hours we rode a part on the Ho Chi Minh trail in Vietnam. One of the riders get serious issues with his motorbike so we waited more at the mechanic than we rode. The Ho Chi Minh Trail was nice! Better than de A1 less cars and trucs more curves and hills. At 15.00 we had some lunch and left the other two bikers in Dong Hoi. They will take the bike on the train or bus and go straight to Hanoi.
In stage eight we rode from Hoi An to Dong Ha.
This ride from Hoi An to Dong Ha took us 6 hours we rode naer the coast an the highway A1 of Vietnam. It was a nice ride with beautiful views and some amazing hairpins. Sometimes the higway was a little boring but the trucks makes you always have to focus. Sometimes they will drive on the wrong side of the road to overtake an other truck. Thats not scary but you have to drive at the right side of the road at that moment.
In stage seven we rode from Quy Nhon to Hoi An.
This ride took us 7 hours near the coast of Vietnam. I love Hoi An it is an cosy city and at nighttime you can drink a beer or wine and see the candles floating on the river. At the foodmarket you can eat cheap and nice local food. When you want to buy a North Face jacket Hoi An is the place to be. They have a lot of them. You can buy them for $20 to $30. Don’t forget to bargain about the price.
In stage six we rode from Nha Trang to Quy Nhon.
This ride took us 5 hours near the coast of Vietnam. It was a nice ride with beautiful views. The road was sometimes under repair. And You have dodge the potholes in the road. The fuel for this stage costs 60.000 VMD ($3).
In stage five we rode from Dalat to Nha Trang.
This route was the most beautifull till now! High in the mountains, good roads and awesome views. Dalat was a cold this morning but Nha Trang was beach again so that was perfect!
