Hostelworld or Booking.com for backpacker

I’m on the road for 8 weeks now and the most of my hostels I booked by hostelworld. In my opinion they are the cheapest. And have the “backpacker” “hostel” world name. But I met a couple of people who book at booking.com and get better deals. So I’ve compared those two last weeks.

Hostelworld or Booking.com

In my opinion you have to compare always. Sometimes is Booking.com cheaper and sometimes is Hostelworld Cheaper. But Booking.com offers sometimes cheap “deals”. And the possibility to cancel easy for free*. (yes hostelworld does the same same but different**)

*Cancel a room Booking.com

Do not forget to read the cancellation policy of the hostel before you make any changes to your reservation. Non-refundable rooms and other special offers may have different cancellation policy. Room specific cancellation information is included beside the room type in the column ‘Conditions’. The cancel conditions you can find in the email as well.

**Cancel a room Hostelworld.com

When you make a reservation, you will be asked to make a non-refundable deposit (being a fixed percentage of the total value of your reservation) that will never be repaid unless you have selected the Standard Flexible Booking Option, in which case the deposit will be credited back to your account if you cancel your reservation in certain circumstances. You will also be asked to pay a fixed reservation fee, which is our fee for making the booking and can be refunded under any circumstances.

There are a lot more sites to use to book hostels:

  2. http://www.hostelbookers.com/
  3. http://www.hostels.com
  4. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/hotels
  5. http://www.hostelz.com/
