After the ferry from Helsinki (Finland) we continued our roadtrip in the Baltic states. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. First country we visited was Estonia we booked a hostel in Tallin the capitalcity with a beautiful old town.
Roadtrip Estonia Tallin
In Tallin we took a private room in a hostel. (free parking next to it) It was a 15 minute walk to the city. It was Peters birthday so we celebrated it till the early morning. In Tallinn they know how to party. We started in the old town in a little alley with some beers and lunch. We moved to another place on the main square to have a dinner and a dessert. When you compare the prices in the Baltic states with Scandinavia you will be happy! 🙂 Main dishes from 8 euro.
Roadtrip Latvia Riga
Riga has an nice old town as well and is famous about the good nightlife. Of course we had to discover it ourself again. We met some nice girls who took us to some bars. Started with a cocktail in Club Cuba and danced the evening away in another club in the old town. Next evening we spent our night party in the Rock cafe in Riga. Airbnb in Riga has awesome option. We had a mean four person apartment in the old town for 60 euro! Close to the railway station and 5 minutes from Rock cafe. Click here for a $40 Airbnb coupon in Tallin.
Parking in Riga
Parking in Riga’s old town is expensive. You can find more information here. We parked our car in one of the parking lots so our car was safe and it wasn’t really expensive.
Roadtrip Lithuania Vilnius
For Vilnius we decide to book another apartment. This one was an industrial interior. One of my favorite Airbnb apartments so far! Click here for a $40 Airbnb coupon. It had everything, kitchen (with all the kitchen stuff), double bed, TV, radio, fast WIFI, kids bed and free parking. It was on 15 minutes walk from the old town. On the day after arriving we did the sightseeing tour by feet. Saw some beautiful churches and went on the tower at the university. In Vilnius you got an independent republic named Uzupio respublika. You can compare it with the free state Christiania in Copenhagen (Denmark).
On the terras Vilnius we ate some delicious disches. For lunch we took the red caviar pancake (4 euro) and the peper meat pancake. (3 euro) Of course we took some big beers 0.5 (1,90 euro) next to it. For dinner we took bacon and ham pizza’s for 4 euro each.
Note for the girls!
If your like to shop or the weather is not that good Vilnius has the biggest shoppingmall in Europe. Named Acropolis.
On our way to Poland we visited the castle Traku Pilis. It is in the middle of the lake. You can swim, rent some cycling boats or rent a sailing boar to get on the lake. If you want to visit the Traku Pilis castle you can walk there on the bridge. Entrance for the castle is 6 euro for adults. You can go in many rooms, it is like a museum. Parking around the castle is regulated by people who are living there. Its around 4 euro for the whole day.
Location of the Traku Pilis Castle
Taxi in the Balstic states
When you’re a little outside the city it is easy to get a taxi. In the Baltic states taxi’s are cheap and easy to go. We paid around 6 euro for 10/15 min ride.
Currency Baltic States
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are all using the euro at the moment. Easy for all European people who visit the Baltic states.

Nice roundup, we did a similar trip from Helsinki to Krakow. We knew Estonian was going to be cheaper for food and drinks, but as we travelled further south it just go cheaper and cheaper until we found 1€ drinks in Krakow. Brilliant!
