Tips to Backpack cheap in South East Asia

Cheap backpack tips south east Asia

I did some nice things in China and Bangkok so far. But the touristic stuff costs a lot of money! Espacially the nature parks in China. But when you buy one beer on a Rooftopbar in Bangkok you can also sleep a night for that money 😉  Yesterday I had my cheapest day this journey.

First of all I’m realy happy with my Couchsurf place. (on Khoa San rd you can also sleep for 250 baht) It is a nice appartment good couch and wifi as well. I uploaded all my photo’s and video’s into the cloud. You never know when you loose your phone. (Yes I think that is going to happen this journey 😀 ) But the owner of the appartment has a cleaninglady and she will arrive at 8.00 am.

So I was up early and had a whole day in front of me! Plan was walk the city see Khao San Road, Phat Phong street at daylight and take a boat back. And walk a little trough the neighborhoods. See the real locals by feet.

I’ll give you a resume what I did and spend.

  • Take the Skytrain so close as i can to Khoa San rd. (40 baht)
  • Bought some breakfast on the street on my way to Khao San road. In this case fruit! (30 baht)
  • I had to transfer money online and needed WIFI, bought a icecream at Mc Donalds (20 baht)
  • Walked over Khao San rd. looking for cheap busses to Cambodia.
  • Took the boat back from pier seven to pier one (35 baht)
  • Had a nice lunch omelet with rice and fruit (80 baht) I love streetfood and try to taste everything!
  • Bought a water and a ice coffee at 7/11 (25 baht)
  • Bought some springrolls  on the street (40 baht)
  • Had a diner in a local restaurant Pad Thai and big water with ice (90 baht)
  • Some water and a beer for at the appartment (60 baht)

In Total I spend 420 baht. Yes you can do it cheaper if you want..

At this moment 40 bath is 1 euro so I spended 10.5 euro for one day! Walked 27.5 km and had great food! The day was awesome 🙂
