Tips to Backpack cheap in South East Asia

I did some nice things in China and Bangkok so far. But the touristic stuff costs a lot of money! Espacially the nature parks in China. But when you buy one beer on a Rooftopbar in Bangkok you can also sleep a night for that money šŸ˜‰Ā  Yesterday I had my cheapest day this journey.

First of all I’m realy happy with my Couchsurf place. (on Khoa San rd you can also sleep for 250 baht) It is a nice appartment good couch and wifi as well. I uploaded all my photo’s and video’s into the cloud. You never know when you loose your phone. (Yes I think that is going to happen this journey šŸ˜€ ) But the owner of the appartment has a cleaninglady and she will arrive at 8.00 am.

So I was up early and had a whole day in front of me! Plan was walk the city see Khao San Road, Phat Phong street at daylight and take a boat back. And walk a little trough the neighborhoods. See the real locals by feet.

I’ll give you a resume what I did and spend.

Nice Airbnb apartment Bangkok

In Bangkok I had to work a little so I wasn’t looking for a hostel. At least a private room. I looked on Airbnb for a apartment in Bangkok and found several.

The final apartment in Bangkok I booked by Airbnb was this one. “Bangkok Mini Stylish Studio“. The response time was realy good. The owner reacts on every question in an hour. The first night I was upgraded to a bigger apartment because other people want to stay a little longer. I could switch apartments (same building) on the next day whenever I want.

Flow House Bangkok

When you want something else in Bangkok you can go surfing at the Flow House. I did and it is a great thing to do. When you’re a little sportive than you’ll have a great time!

Flow house Bangkok bodyboard

You will start on a bodyboard. That is good to do. Just do it, watch the other people for a sec and you’ll see how they do it. Some little kids are playing around like professionals. Just start at the beginning and do it on your own speed. Those kids are there everyday I think šŸ™‚

Hostel close to Khao San Road

At my second stay in Bangkok I booked the Born Free Vista Hostel. It’s a nice hostel close to Khao San Road. Some places for food around and a seven eleven in the next street. Thet have good solid beds with nice matrasses. In the room they have airconditioning and the rooms are dark in the morning. And thats a advantage after a good night at Khao San Road šŸ˜‰ I liked the lounge in the hostel as well. You can hang around in front of the van eat, drink, talk and just chill there. The wifi is quiet good for send and recieve messages but when you walk (5 min) to the Mc Donalds the free wifi is perfect. (see the code on a bill)

Hostel close to Khoa San Road

Close to Khoa San Road without the music in the night. I think this Hostel is a good option when you want to go out here! There are two Born Free Hostel hostels in Bangkok, both on walking distance to Khao San Road. My tip, grap some cheap streetfood before you start drinking šŸ˜‰

Cycling in Bangkok with biketour!

I’m from Holland and like to bike. So yesterday I had an amazing experiance! I did a biketour trough Bangkok. We saw local markets, Chinatown, Tempels, local sports, Flowermarket and tasted different kind of snacks on our way trough small lanes and traffic. I think when you want to see the real Bangkok and want to see how the local people are living, the biketour is a nice option. I did the Bangkok biketour of 4.5 hours including some drinks, local snacks and even a dr. Fish treatment at the end.

S1 Hostel Bangkok

This is a good place for budget traveler who wants a nice clean hostel. I stayed for three nights and booked their 10 bed dorm room. The hotel is 10 – 15 minutes walk to the nearest MRT station (Lumpihi MRT Station). Bathroom was clean and with an nice hot shower. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Hostel Bangkok close to Seven Eleven, Massage and Restaurants

Arround the corner on one minute walking is the 7/11. Great to pick up some cold beers and snacks. One minute furter is are several massage salons. For only 200 baht you’ll get a one hour Thai or feet massage. I liked it! On three minutes from the hostel are some restaurants. You can eat Thai or western depends on what you prefer. But they have it in the street! At the end of that street (5 min walk) is another 7/11. In front of that 7/11 you’ll find some streetfood. I liked the Pad Thai with egg! And from the other one the salad, little spicy but realy nice. Together (big Pad Thai and salad) for 60 Baht! (1.50 euro!) Last but not least, at the corner of the second 7/11 you will find a bakery. They sell nice panini’s and sandwiches for 40 baht šŸ™‚
