Hostel in Penang Georgetown

My stay at Penang was great. I love streetfood and Georgetown in Penang has a lot of streetfood. During my stay in Kuala Lumpur someone recommended the hostel “The house of Journey” in Georgetown.

Best hostel in Malaysia / Penang

When I booked the first night to make sure I had a place to sleep I already saw the good rating so that was nice. The price was not cheap but I think worth it when I read the comments. On my arrival I was a little early but I could stay in the aircon lounge. After the check-in and saw the awards of booking.com (8.6) and an award from hostel world for the best hostel in 2015!

When I compare this hostel with others I have been so far. I would say this is a really good hostel. Good location, clean, good showers (rainshower!), security, fast and good laundry service, staff is realy helpfull. Breakfast is simple but good enough. Toast with seven kinds of jam and coffee & tea.I would recommend this hostel for sure. The art on the wall looks in the beginning a little bit dirty but that are messages and drawings of other guest. Nice to read and check when you’re brushing your teeth.

The owners of the hostel in Penang

During my stay I talked with the owners. On the wall in the hostel you can see pictures of their personal trips to Norway, Spain, Austria, Holland, UK, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy Portugal. They lived in Europe for a while and travelled a lot so they know how it is to stay in a hostel and met a lot of travellers during their trips.

In my opinion the location of the hostel is perfect. Just 10 minute walk from the ferry. One minute walk from the busstation. One minute from the 7-eleven and awesome street food. Try the Wonton Noodle! Street art on 5 minute walk and little India on 5-7 minute walk. During my stay it was easy to go to Turtle Beach and check the streetart in Penang!
